A chaplain’s pastoral care and spiritual support can spark hope and encouragement to victims and their families in times of unexpected tragedy.

JAFC Hospital Chaplain The Reverend Scott Buck answered the call in his heart and signed on to assist the Red Cross during the aftermath of hurricane Harvey.  Scott provided pastoral care not only to those in shelters but also to the often exhausted volunteers.

Fr. Scott also participated on interdisciplinary teams consisting of RNs, mental health and spiritual care canvassing affected neighborhoods and visiting residents at community resource centers obtaining essential supplies. He commented, ” It was refreshing to see people from all walks of life, and from many parts of the US serving together as one.”
