When the Bishop of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy tasks completion of this Residential Tutorial as part of the endorsement process, then its completion becomes a requirement for the applicant’s formation towards endorsement or for maintenance of endorsement. Others may be required to complete this tutorial at the discretion of the bishop.
Through this week-long residential practicum, participants are provided an intensive and comprehensive hands-on course in Anglican Liturgics. During the week participants receive systematic and concise summaries of each liturgy of the Book of Common Prayer followed by instructed demonstrations and then opportunity in small groups to practice functioning as Officiant. Emphasis is given to the Divine/Daily Offices and to the liturgy of Holy Communion/Holy Eucharist.
All who have completed this Residential Tutorial have testified to its inestimable value in seeing, hearing and practicing, first hand, the liturgies of the Book of Common Prayer, as well as to their sense of confidence as a result of having their questions answered.
The Residential Tutorial is a wonderful, valuable and essential opportunity for intense, intentional formation in how we as Anglican Christian clergy conduct Anglican Worship. There is nothing more central or essential to who we are and what we do as Anglican Priests and Deacons entrusted with the conduct of worship in our Lord’s Church. And this is why your Bishop, Vicar General and Archdeacon personally lead the Tutorial.
* The dates and location for the next Residential Tutorial are: 19-24 September 2016 at Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd in Pelham, AL.
Chaplains who have been approved for the event by the Vicar General will find the Registration page and additional information on the Secure Side of our webpage.
